They say 64 bit operating system is the future. Having a 64 bit OS allows you to access more RAM on your computer, compared to 32 bit that can only access up to 3GB of RAM. So if you have more than 3 GB's of RAM and is using a 32 bit OS, you cannot access the rest of the memory.Adobe After Effects CS5 is already released, this version works natively on 64 bit operating systems. This is the most important part of this new version. If you'll check the system requirements, its a must that you have a 64bit OS. It also support multi processor and openGL acceleration, allowing you to utilize most of your computer's resources. This will help you work faster, particularly if you're working on a large project, compared to before that we have to wait and wait.The future release of After Effects will also require a 64 bit OS.
New Features
Among the new features are:
Roto Brush, which is a rotoscoping tools. This is good if you forgot to put a green screen during pre-production, then suddenly you realized that the background or the subject needs to be isolated. Usually rotoscoping is a tedious task, I haven't used this tools yet, but they say it's a time saver.
AVC-Intra, which works with tapeless camcorders such as Panasonic and RED cameras.
Digieffects Free Form,make a flat image into virtual 3d. Before what I do if I have a 2d image that I want to make look like 3d, I use Photoshp's Vanishing point feature, then import it on After Effects. Thanks to this new feature, you can do it inside AE, without going to Photoshop, a real time saver.
Mocha for AE, before I'm using Boujou or Pftrack for motion tracking. Good thing they have Mocha for AE, which is also a good motion tracking tool.
Color Finesse, a great color correction tool which gives you full control over colors.
These are just among the key features of the new version, as there are a lot more enhancements with After Effects CS5.
Adobe never fails to give AE users awesome features. For those who are using 32 bit OS,that includes myself, I guess its time to switch to 64 bit.
